December 5, 2013 – Essay Practice – After reviewing the anchor sets, you will use what you have learned to plan and write an essay on the following topic. The planning sheet will go in your class writing portfolio. You will type and save the essay on your portal and submit the essay through Edmodo and on classzone for a score:

Your principal wants to invite a celebrity speaker to your school. Think about the celebrity you would choose to have speak; then, write a letter to persuade your principal to invite this person. Be sure to include convincing reasons and details to support your choice.

This essay is found in Classzone Essay Smart, Persuasive Prompt #1.

February 19, 2013 – Essay Practice – We will be planning and writing the following essay. Planning should be done in your Composition Notebook. You will submit the essay to classzone Essay Smart as you did with the last essay.

  • Think about the celebrity you would choose to have speak;
  • then, write a letter to persuade your principal to invite this person. Be sure to include convincing reasons and details to support your choice.
