What do you see in the picture above? What on earth does this have to do with our novel? You need to be able to relate seemingly unrelated things. As you will write later, this book has several themes. One of the themes is illustrated above. Can you guess what that theme is?
Students, today we will be trying something a little new. As we advance in our yearly testing over the next few years, there will be more emphasis on writing. The ability to write to a prompt and refer to a passage or two will become increasingly important. Below, you will find a quote that is related to our novel. Your job will be to write how that quote reflects the theme of the novel Hoot.
- Reading Chapter 14 in Hoot
- Read the following quote: “Earth provides enough to satisfy every man’s needs, but not every man’s greed.” Mahatma Gandhi
- Think about how this quote relates to your world and to the novel we are reading in class
- In your Wattpad (6th graders in Edmodo) write a response using details from the book and examples from your own life/experiences
