Good day, students! We will be moving into the Main Idea portion of our FCAT preparation. Here is the Common Core Benchmark:
CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RI.8.2 Determine a central idea of a text and analyze its development over the course of the text, including its relationship to supporting ideas; provide an objective summary of the text.
We will be using our workbooks to go over Main Idea, as well as the FCAT Focus program.
- Complete the self-survey on pg. 111 about your interests
- Read about the Main Idea skill
- Read “Owning Your Future: Turning Dreams into Reality” pg. 112
- Follow along in your group and complete margin questions
- Complete FCAT Focus activity on Main Idea
